The Good Food and Farming March was a great success. We rallied in Parliament Square and then did a short march past Downing St and around nearby streets. It was a lively march with singing and drumming, led by tractors, one of which had driven all the way from Pembrokeshire! There were various messages: food justice for all, support for the Environmental Landscape and Management Scheme (ELMS), anti-GMO crops. We added our own message: Food Justice Needs Land Justice. This message, along with the leaflet we distributed, was well-received. We met knew people and caught up with old friends. So a good day. Thanks to Land Workers Alliance for all the work in organising and Granville Community Kitchen for food. Whether the government gets the message is another matter. But marches like these help build up the momentum for a bigger movement, necessary if we are going to force the government to listen.
